I decided to practice several challenging environmental elements: rocks, waves, and translucent cloth. But since I can’t do anything by halves, it seemed like a good idea to combine all these elements in one picture. And to make it one of the largest acrylic paintings I’ve ever done. And to give myself a tight deadline to finish it for a gallery display. I certainly succeeded in challenging myself, but it was a wonderful process, and I love how the combination of red and teal worked out. In terms of technique, I’m particularly proud of the crest of foam along the dragon’s chin and upper neck.
